Red botanical prints, made as small artworks
Limited eco-print silk dresses in marigold and red tones, hand-made in Bali.
Our red silk eco-print collection is produced in Bali as a small series of dresses, hand-dyed with botanical red eco-print. Inspired by the warmth and surface of Gustav Klimt's painting Woman in Red, each piece records leaves, petals and mineral pigments directly onto mulberry silk. As a result of the process our tailors in Bali follow, every red silk dress becomes a singular piece of art: no two alike.
In Bali, we work carefully and by hand. First, artisans place plant matter on the silk. Then they apply heat and pressure to transfer colour. Therefore, the marks you see are literal traces of the plants and the process. Moreover, subtle gold or mineral highlights can appear where pigments concentrate.
The colour range centres on deep reds and marigold tones. At the same time, the silk keeps a soft, wearable drape. At our workshop in Bali, we choose 100% mulberry silk so the dye reads clearly and the fabric stays light against the body. These dresses move with ease and read as wearable art rather than printed fabric.
