About RIMMBA
For our founder Karunia, to journey to rimba is to leave the known behind and discover an inner, intuitive knowledge. RIMMBA is her wish for a more conscious and caring world, where we preserve the wilderness and leave softer footsteps. Today, RIMMBA's line of sustainable clothing can be found online, and in select stores on our home island of Bali.

About The Designer
Karunia Fischer was born, raised and educated in Bali. As a third-culture-kid to Swiss-Filipina parents, Karunia grew up encouraged to experiment, express, create, and above all, to be passionate about whatever she chose to do. Immersed in Balinese culture and inspired by local artisans, painters and her entrepreneurial family, Karunia began designing her own clothes while still in middle school. She then stepped away from Bali’s shores to study design at Rhode Island School of Design and then International Relations in the Netherlands. On her return from Europe she worked with a Hawaiian company to launch the swimwear line Noa Noa Hawaii, before branching out to create her own brand of sustainable clothing.

I truly believe in a world where small fashion businesses, who care about their tailors, their artisan dyers, their fabric suppliers, and their customers, can be the norm of the fashion business. I believe that fast fashion does not have a place in our world anymore, and I believe slow fashion is beautiful. There is beauty in being a small business and I’ll never be a big brand like Zara or H&M, because that’s not my goal and never will be. What motivates me is that I know everyone who works for RIMMBA and I know our customers by name. I speak on behalf of the full RIMMBA Team when I say that we all share a common mission to make this planet a better place.
.
Adding to this, I truly believe I can best achieve my mission to make a better community and world by empowering my team and their families. IF THEY RISE, I RISE! I know that their children can go to school because Rimmba supports them. I know my staff make a fair wage and have good living conditions because they deserve to be compensated for their impeccable craft. I know they will not suffer the same fate as the garment workers who lost their lives because of poor labor conditions in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2013. #neverforget
I believe that happy staff will bring happiness and prosperity to my business and my customers. They are the pillars of my work and the essence of what I do. Each one excels at their craft and is a source of inspiration for my ideas. it's an honor to see their passion and dedication to RIMMBA.
.
Thank you to my fantastic tailors, Ibu Meling, Ibu Fanny, my Assistent Kadek, my natural dye mentors and gurus. Deep Gratitude to all of them and to all who believe in RIMMBA and have helped us continue our mission.
