RIMMBA x Hannah Singer Kimono — Mud Collection
Made in limited pieces
This is a limited piece from the RIMMBA x Hannah Singer Mud Collection. Each one is made in our garden using Balinese mud, and sewn in our atelier at home. Time is taken to build up each layer of dye, which is why only a small number exist.
Designed out of Hannah’s love for kimonos. She lives in them — from sleeping, to dancing, to meditation, and going out. Easy to wear at home, or layered over silk dresses and pants when you step out, keeping you covered, soft, and at ease in your body.
About the Mud Collection
Each piece is dyed by hand using iron-rich mud gathered from Balinese rice paddies, layered with tannin-rich plant sap. Through repeated layers of tannin and iron, the color is developed and fixed into the fiber.
Mud dyeing is an ancient practice found across many cultures, from Indonesia to East Asia and West Africa, often held in the hands of women. Traditionally, these garments are worn during times of transition… bleeding, change, and healing.
Made in Bali.
No synthetic fabrics. No toxic dyes.
