Botanical Dye Lingerie Workshop Bali

We gather in Bali for a natural dye lingerie workshop. This intimate morning ritual celebrates softness, creativity, and self-love. The workshop invites you into a slower rhythm, guided by plants, colour, and touch.

During this botanical dye workshop, you will work with natural dyes and living plants to give colour to your lingerie set. Step by step, simple techniques unfold, allowing the process to feel gentle and grounding rather than rushed or technical.

Colour emerges slowly from leaves, flowers, and roots. Meanwhile, scent and texture guide the senses. This workshop becomes a shared ritual, offering space for care, presence, and connection.

No prior experience is needed. Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to work with plants are enough.

✨ What You’ll Take Home & Learn

Your Embroidered Lingerie Set

Create your own cotton lingerie set, including a bra and underwear. You will dye each piece by hand using natural plant pigments.

Please refer to the size chart when selecting your size. If you are unsure, don't worry — we will bring extra sizes and alternative styles to accommodate everyone. Simply select the size you feel is closest to yours when booking.

Additional Items to Dye (Optional)

Want to create a little more? We will also have a selection of additional pieces available to dye, including hair scrunchies, crop tops, scarves, and other beautiful items.

You are welcome to choose and purchase extra pieces during the workshop to experiment with more botanical colours and techniques.

Additional items are priced separately, and we will have a card machine available for payment on the day.

Natural Dye Practice

Learn to hand-dye your lingerie using seasonal botanical dyes such as avocado seeds, annatto, brazilwood, marigold, indigo, and onion skins. Each piece develops its own unique tone and character.

Nourishment

Jiwa Garden has a lovely, affordable warung where you can choose and purchase your own lunch, including traditional Balinese nasi campur and light refreshments.

Optional Extras: Additional garments and accessories will be available to purchase and dye during the workshop. Card payments accepted.

Please note: Transport to and from Jiwa Garden and lunch are not included in the workshop price. Each participant is responsible for arranging their own transport and purchasing their own meal at the warung of Jiwa Garden.

How to measure your handmade custom silk dress made in Bali, Indonesia from RIMMBA Sustainable Clothing

In service to women — crafted with care for the womb, the skin, and the nervous system.

How to measure:

  1. Bust
    Wrap the tape around your bust line at nipple level, keeping it horizontal. Let it rest naturally against the body. Measure without a bra.
  2. Waist
    Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, keeping the measuring tape gently relaxed.
  3. Hips
    Stand straight with your feet together and measure around the widest point of your hips.
  4. Length
    Measure from the left or right collarbone (where a strap would sit) straight down to the floor, barefoot. Refer to diagram 4.

sizing & Height

Every woman’s body holds its own proportions and rhythm — our silhouettes are designed to honor that.

If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing down, as bias-cut silk naturally adapts to the body.

If your height is below 162 cm (5'3") and you are between sizes, choose the smaller size.

If your height is above 175 cm (5'9") and you are between sizes, choose the larger size for additional length and balance.

If you are unsure, include your height and measurements (bust, waist, and hips) in your order notes. Our team will gently guide you.

  • Colours may vary depending on botanical materials, fabric, and dye process — part of the beauty of artisan work.
  • Aftercare: hand-wash in cold water, wash separately for first few wears, use neutral detergent, turn pieces inside-out to protect colour.
  • Full payment secures your spot. Cancellation refundable up to 14 days before; transfers allowed if you can’t make it.

Participation in the Melukat ritual is optional; led by priest and arranged with Banjar’s blessing, offered as a moment of ceremony and celebration, not an obligation.
