Your custom silk dress will be hand made by RIMMBA's master tailors in Bali. RIMMBA strives to ensure not only the vitality and preservation of treasured traditional art, but also the celebration of the exceptional craftsmanship of its artisans. Share both the energy and healing properties of Bali and Indonesia's native plants.

With a custom silk dress or other garment design, your one-of-a-kind wearable comes to life through the art of mastering both natural fabrics, and botanical dyes. In turn, supports Bali’s local communities, revitalizing traditional dye techniques, and also preserving it’s cultural heritage.

Collaborate with RIMMBA’s team of master sewers, pattern makers, and artisanal dyers. Your mentor will be Karunia Fischer, founder and botanical dye textile designer.

Design your very own custom silk dress in Bali, working closely with Karunia. You’ll be a part of the concept and sampling process and have the creative freedom to choose from a range of botanical dye shades and prints across any RIMMBA collection.

This collaborative journey will lead you to the culmination of your vision—one meticulously cut and sewn final garment in the luxurious, botanically dyed natural fabric of your choice.

This immersive experience will bring you closer to Bali, its people, and also its traditions. While wearing your custom RIMMBA silk garment you’ll feel the energy of the people who crafted it and the plant's healing properties.

What is included:

Custom Garment Service Fee

The custom silk dress design process: collaborating with our team of skilled artisans, pattern makers, and sewers in Bali. Starts at $1000.

Sampling Phase

The sampling phase, which encompasses 1 to 2 samples and revisions in lightweight premium cotton.

Sampling Process Overview:

Phase 1: (Approximately 2 hours)

Initial consultation with RIMMBA’s founder and botanical dye textile designer, Karunia

  • Discuss product details for each design.

  • Explore essential attributes and product specifics.

  • Discuss embellishments, including zippers, buttons, strings, and accessories.

  • Select the most suitable sample fabric for design prototypes.

Phase 2: (Estimated Duration: 2 weeks)

Initial meeting with RIMMBA tailor to begin sampling and pattern creation.

  • Review and incorporate crucial cut and fit information from client's fashion designs.

  • Begin creating 1 to 2 sample reviews with patterns. Please note that each sample may undergo up to two additional fittings or revisions. This to ensure the custom design of the silk dress is polished and complete.

Final Pattern Creation

Once your final sample is chosen, RIMMBA’s pattern maker will craft your unique final pattern. 

Fabric Selection

You may choose from silks, linens, cottons, and other natural fabrics. If the desired color or print is already available in our collection, then there will be no additional charge. However, if you request fabric colors or prints that are not part of our existing collection, there will be an additional fee of $200.

Phase 3: (Estimated Duration: 3 weeks)

Begin sewing final garment

  • Procure necessary fabric materials.

  • Begin dyeing fabric for the final garment. Please note that fabric preparation, including washing and drying, may take 2-4 days before sample creation can begin.

  • Begin cutting fabric from the custom pattern. (At this stage no amendments are  allowed to be made to the final design)

Your Custom Silk Dress

Final Steps:

Lastly, your one-of-a-kind RIMMBA garment will be meticulously crafted and sewn in Bali. We will use botanically dyed natural fabrics in the pattern and shade of your choosing.

Creating a RIMMBA custom silk dress is a labour of love from our team in Bali. Each custom piece is meticulously hand-crafted with connection and intention. The dyeing process is a testament to our patience, as it typically requires an average of 48-72 hours to ferment and prepare a rich, vibrant dye bath.

The estimated timeframe for a custom RIMMBA garment can take 6-8 weeks. The cost will range from $1000-$1200 USD.

You can design and craft your custom made silk wedding dress with our RIMMBA team in Bali. The cost will also depend on how complex and detailed the dress will be.

Terms and Conditions

Please note that the provided timeframe mentioned above for crafting your custom RIMMBA silk dress is an estimate. We deeply appreciate the well-being and personal commitments of our dedicated team.

We understand that unforeseen personal circumstances can arise. Also, we have great respect for Balinese ceremonies which may interrupt production time.

Intricate or complex designs may also extend the time it takes to craft your custom silk dress.

Some customers may express a desire to observe the dyeing and sewing process. However, please note that this customized service does not grant access to the RIMMBA atelier.

While Karunia and the team appreciate visitors to the RIMMBA atelier in Bali, the design team maintains a demanding schedule. Therefore access will be granted exclusively through invitations extended by Karunia.
